Liquid Reserves/Production: 7.5 years

Oil Reserves: Most of Cameroon’s known commercial oil reserves are located in the offshore Rio del Rey Basin (89%) with the remaining 11% located in the Douala Basin.

Gas Reserves: Substantial gas reserves have been noted in Cameroon but have not been exploited due to the lack of a local gas market.  In 2007 Sonagas (the National Gas Company of Equatorial Guinea) and SNH (the National Hydrocarbon Corporation of Cameroon) agreed Heads of Agreement relating to export of Cameroon natural gas to Equatorial Guinea. Sonagas claims that preliminary studies have confirmed that Cameroon has sufficient natural gas reserves to be able to supply Equatorial Guinea with a minimum volume of 200mcf of gas per day for 20 years from 2010.

In November 2008 SNH and Gaz de France Suez announced that they have entered into a strategic partnership to develop a Liquefied Natural Gas export plant in Cameroon. The two companies will start by jointly evaluating the alternatives for LNG export, including an LNG Floating Production Storage Offloading (FPSO) solution in the Kribi or Limbé area. This initiative will provide SNH and all upstream operators in Cameroon with the opportunity to monetise associated and/or non-associated gas reserves1

Oil/Liquid Reserves: Since 2001, Gabon’s liquid reserve base has increased by over 1 billion barrels. The additional reserves have largely been attributed to upgrades on existing developments as well as new discoveries.
